The Joseph L. Little Scholarship

Purpose: The Chiron Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to high school students based on demonstrated academic achievement and an express interest in leadership and community engagement.

Criteria: To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be graduating high school seniors residing in the metro Atlanta, GA area, which includes Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb, and Clayton counties. Consideration will be based on academic achievement, community service involvement, and demonstrated leadership skills.

Application Steps:

  1. Complete scholarship application at www.atlgradiotas.com/scholarship.

  2. Submit a 1,000-word essay to chironscholarship@gmai.com. The essay should be a reflection on the speech delivered by Congressman John Lewis in 1963 entitled “We Must Free Ourselves.” The speech can be found at http://www.blackpast.org/1963-john-lewis-we-must-free-ourselves.

  3. Upload and submit your most recent high school transcript (including your GPA) to chironscholarship@gmail.com.

  4. Upload and submit an official college/university acceptance letter.

All required documents must be submitted via email to chironscholarship@gmail.com by Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 5:55 PM ET. Please put in the Subject Line:  ATTN: Chiron Scholarship Fund-The Joseph L. Little Scholarship

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Amount: The scholarship amount is $2,000. The amount will be paid in one installment to the college or university.

Deadline: The application deadline is Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 5:55PM ET. The deadline is the date after which the application will no longer be accepted. The scholarship committee uses the electronic date and time to determine submitted entries.

Renewal process: This scholarship is not renewable. Only graduating seniors accepted to a college or university are eligible to apply.
